The central repository of public records in Nevada is located at the Office of Vital Statistics within the Division of Health of the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (NDHSS). This office is tasked with responding to public requests for vital records namely Death, Birth, Divorce and Marriage Records. Nevada Marriage Records occurring after 1968 can be searched and verified at this office. The information is not maintained at the NDHSS. It is held at county level and the fee for verification of a record is $10 for each name searched. Different charges and procedures apply at the respective county offices.
Requests can be submitted in person or by mail to the State Health Department. They must contain the full name(s) of the person whose record is being searched, the approximate date of the event and the city where the event is believed to have taken place. Payment must be made by money order, cashier’s check or personal check to the Section of Vital Statistics. Online application is only available through an external independent partner which only accepts credit card payment.
